The teachers’ strikes have been a constant theme of my summer as I've conducted interviews in four very distinct indigenous pueblos of Oaxaca. Lemurs, birds and small mammals are hunted by members of forest-adjacent communities for local consumption in all six areas. Sweden and Finland were the first countries where forest conservation laws came into effect, in 1886 and 1903 respectively. From experience, unresolved detail is being allowed to smokescreen the most obvious way to preserve the West's standard of living, and ensure Guyana remains a viable nation in the not too distant future.

We say they are adapted to this environment. An emic understanding of place provides in-depth context to a pest problem. Another reason for the low prices is that workers involved in illegal logging earn much less than legal workers because of their poor bargaining position. The real challenge is to find solutions for poor countries with large populations who can barely make ends meet. That's about the size of a small kitchen! Deforested rainforest land is being turned into grazing pasture for cows.
